So on Saturday, I took my first trip ever to Morgan State to attend the FAM Oasis Spring 08 Premiere Fashion Show (there's like a million names for this show but you get the point) and only got lost once (shout out to my navigation system for the hood tour). Me and my boys got there right before the show started and sat front row...RS Entertainment...good lookin' out yo.( NY'ers always look out for each other)

The fashion show was on point. I cant even front...cause when I first heard there was a fashion show at Morgan, I was a little skeptical (no offense, just being real). All in all, I was feeling the runway layout that allowed more front row seats, but I think had it been elevated people could have seen things better.While I can’t say I was impressed with the men’s clothes, I do know what NOT to wear the next time I go out, so thanks. The women’s clothes were worth checking out, or maybe it was just the women,(wink wink at shorty I was diggin'...call me). Regardless, there were some hot pieces in these collections.

The show ended with Michael Knights fall collection which is “heavily influenced by shapes” according to Knight. His stuff just looked better than all the rest (check out the 2 pics below)

Young professionals in Baltimore are always in search of young, professional, upscale events to attend, as they seem to be a rarity in the area. I've been receiving a TON of promotional fliers for "Posh Thursdays" at PUR nightclub (2232 Boston St.), so I decided to scoot on over there to see if it's all it's proclaimed to be. Events4GoodPeople said it started at 6 pm for happy hour and went until the club closed, but the club didn't get bumpin' until after 11 pm. There were plenty of attractive women in the place, but the man-to-woman ratio left a little to be desired (FELLAS, where are you?!). After 11 pm, the club became more crowded with a seemingly professional crowd and good music to get the party going. There are 3 levels so there's plenty of space to mix and mingle with other partygoers. Shout out to one of the owners, Marty. Also, local celeb Timothy Dean (Timothy Dean's Bistro) was in the building, who seems to be a regular at PUR.

All in all, I say try "Posh Thursdays" at PUR, I think you'll have a Fab! time.

Recap | Vegas nights @ Gordon's Lounge

So ya girl took a gamble (get it...Vegas nights...idk... I laughed lol) and decided to head out to Gordon's Lounge on Saturday night. Again, shout-out out to the birthday girl, April, and my favorite bartender, Chanel.(if you ever go to Gordon's be sure to ask for her)

I will recap using some pics and key points:

-They claim there are 8 plasmas...but...6 of them are 13 inch. Pls check the pic below. In other words, if you're watching the game, the players look like stick figures

-The DJ on the first floor is a CD player...check the pic. And what's sad is that it was better than the DJ on the 2nd floor. Can I get a copy? I was feelin' track 10...

- They had ceiling fans...what a great idea!!! I think most clubs should go with this option. This means that no matter how crowded it got, I barely broke a sweat!

- The Red room is fly...couches are extremely comfy (Value City? lol..sike) Its a definite chill room when you need a break from the dancefloor.

-And the dudes actually came dressed halfway decent. (thats saying alot for Bmore lol)

-DJ Tony T isn't my favorite DJ. I asked him for "Bust it Baby". He asked me "by who?" How is the DJ asking me? Isn' t that your job to know these things...then he told me he doesnt take requests. (prolly cause he was afraid I would name another mainstream song he didnt know)

All in all, Gordon's is a great venue...definitely one of the nicer spots in Bmore. Even though I almost killed myself on the wobbly banister going down the stairs, I would definitely return. Hopefully a bartender won't get fired on the spot next time (I wish I woulda gotten some of those free drinks she was giving away). And even though it wasn't packed, I'm not complaining cause I'm tired of going home smellin' like other people's sweat (thats not fab!)

So for this one, I'mma give a 3.75 outta 5. It's not quite a 4, but with the right DJ, repaired banister, and men my age, Gordon's definitely has the potential to be Bmore's secret treasure (lol)

Ok so I have a secret....I'm slightly hood(lol)...

Not in a bad way though...but yes, I cant lie, you won't find the Estelle's and Chrisette's in my car. (I still luv them tho) You're gonna hear either Sirius Radio with Cipha Sounds & DJ Envy, and if that aint on, you're gonna hear some Rick Ross (the the the the boss) or maybe even some Plies (yes, I'm a little embarrassed myself)

Before you judge me though...listen to Plies new song "Bust it Baby". Yes his lyrics are ridiculous and he may sounds remedial, but the remix with Ne-Yo is crazy. He uses the beat to Janet Jackson's "Come Back to Me" and we all know we used to luvvvv that song ( I know I did).

Tired of doing the same old nightclub routine? Well BmoreFab! has something new for you! Club 347 (347 Calvert Street) is a jazz club …think "Love Jones". The drinks are reasonably priced and although the crowd was a bit more seasoned (think 30 and over), with free admission and great music, this place is a definite go-to when you feel like doing something different.

Monday nights are for the professional players but Tuesday is open mic night. So if you've got some talent, call ahead and show off your skills. Take your boo or go with your girls but you're sure to have a grown and sexy time!

R.I.P. Sheena Marie Day

Though this isn't Fab! news, we at TheFabEmpire send our deepest condolences to the family of Sheena Marie Day, who was killed on April 13, 2008.

This tragedy hits close to home since Sheena is my soror from the Mu Mu City Wide Chapter at Towson University. (SP06) [ my thoughts and prayers are also with all of my sorors]

For all those who wish to pay their respects to the family and friends of Sheena, there will be a candlelight vigil held at The Speakers Circle on the campus of Towson University (the circle is located diagonal from the lecture hall near the psychology building) on Thursday, April 17, 2008.

Funeral arrangements are still TBD.

Doors open at 9pm and ladies wearing shades of blue are FREE before 10:30pm....and the lady & gentleman wearing the best "blue fly" ensemble will be featured as "Sharp Dressed & Pretty Fly" in the Flywire Magazine (exposure people...jump on this opportunity!)

Charm City Challenge

Since 2001, Baltimore's top high school hoopsters have taken to the court against a National All-Star squad, and for the past two years, Charm City has prevailed!

This Sunday (4.6.08) at the Towson Center, Converse presents... Baltimore's team, LOADED, will face off again to see if they can make "Charm City" a dynasty. It all starts at 3pm with the County All-Stars vs. City All-Stars (Go County!)

Anddd...this Friday (4.4.08), Dunbar High School hosts the Annual Off-the -Hook Dunk & 3-Point Contest starting at 6pm. Tickets are $5 at the door for guests and free for students!!!
