Everyone who has been to Timothy Dean's Bistro knows that its a great venue, furnished with a state of the art bar, lounge, restaurant, and dance floor. There is not too much to recap on this party other than it was poppin. Dj Infame had me dancing all night long! NO I wasn't sweating too bad this time (I wore that breathable material that I was telling you about last time). I think they turned the temp on the AC down. This may seem like a super wack recap but I honestly have nothing negative to say about the party!!!Saturday, July 12, 2008
Recap | Bourgeoise Fridays at Timothy Deans
Everyone who has been to Timothy Dean's Bistro knows that its a great venue, furnished with a state of the art bar, lounge, restaurant, and dance floor. There is not too much to recap on this party other than it was poppin. Dj Infame had me dancing all night long! NO I wasn't sweating too bad this time (I wore that breathable material that I was telling you about last time). I think they turned the temp on the AC down. This may seem like a super wack recap but I honestly have nothing negative to say about the party!!!Recap| Fresh Fridays at Pur Ultra Lounge
Yesterday evening was my first outing to PUR Ultra Lounge on a Friday. The theme for the night was A Party with a Purpose. The purpose you ask...Breast Cancer Awareness. A portion of the proceeds from the party went to the Susan G. Komen breast cancer research foundation and a local breast cancer survivor. Now to what you're all interested in - the party. So, my homegirl and I walk in and see bout six people on the first level so we go straight upstairs to see about hmmm twenty people. So...what they heck...we made our way to the bar. Usually the drinks at PUR are on point but this time they were a bit watered down. What's up with that? Everyone knows the entire glass does not need to be filled with ice!!! That makes me sooooo mad! Anyway...I figured it was early and more people would come as the night went on - and they did. We two-stepped up there for about two oldies but NOT goodies and called it quits. I really wasn't feelin DJ Greg the Hammer at all. I must say he did step it up toward the end of the night but still.
After the two step crusade, we ventured downstairs to the bar, where little cupcakes with sprinkles awaited us. I'll pass...cupcakes!!! Now some Hors d'oeuvres would've been great, but I guess I'm being extra. The crowd was definitely grown and sexy, and I mean GROWN LOL! My homegirl was definitely dancing with a guy who had gray hair in his beard and the guy who I was dancing with guessed I was born in the late 1980's. I also saw a couple Stellas in their getting their grooves back...I wonder will I be like that in my 30s? Hope not. Simply put, if you are looking for a chill spot for the 25 and older crowd and you're single then Pur on a Friday night is your place. Shout out to my special friend D.L.M. you know who you are....where were you??? Maybe we can meet up next time. Shout out to the bouncers for looking out...I appreciate it!

What's Fab! for the Rest of the Week?
Wednesday| 7.9.08

This event sounds unusual but I'm not knocking it. We all need to do something eccentric every once in a while...live a little. Tomorrow check out Live Standup @ The Movies at AMC Loews Valley Center 9 located at 9616 Reisterstown Rd Featuring Donnell Rawlings (Ashy Larry). Doors open @ 7pm and the show begins at 7:30pm. The cost is $25 for General Admission & VIP is Available (not sure why you need this but its available). Please note that there will be prizes and giveaways. If you're interested you can find out more or to purchase tickets click here. NOTICE: No tickets will be sold at the door.

Celebrate with the sisters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. for their Centennial Celebration! Party at PUR Lounge at 2322 Boston St. All AKAs free before 10:30...(Deltas in free too? LOL )

This event sounds right up my alley. Be one of the first to experience Mixology The Perfect Blend. It seems as though this happy hour/after party was created to help us make it through hump day. Beginning July 9th and every Wednesday thereafter (for the summer) Cibo's Bar and Grille located at 100 Painters Mill Rd. (that's in Owings Mills for those who dwell in the city) will be the hot spot for professional in the Owings Mills and surrounding areas. Why should you even bother? Well read this. There is no cover for happy hour. For the after party, ladies are $1 all night and the fellas are $10. Select appetizers are 1/2 off and martinis are $5!!! (thats for my DCFab! Girl). The dress code is only for the grown and sexy. They're not asking for you to be decked out but please, please, don't step out looking like you belong in a 92Q kiddie disco. NO athletic wear. Check em out!!!

Single? Are you ready to mingle? Don't be ashamed! Head over to Eden's Lounge located at 15 W. Eager St. Meet some of the sexiest singles in the city. I see the party will be hosted by DJ Tanz and Gary Gray...I wonder if that's the same Gary I went to high school (BPI) with. Anyway, the specials for the night are... ladies free all night, fellas $10 after 9pm, 2 for 1 specials during happy hour, and $2 drink specials for ladies. Head out to Eden's Lounge on Wednesday, you never know what can happen....

Friday| 7.11.08

The Flywire and Jay Claxton presents Social Status happy hour. If you are looking for a place to unwind after a long work week near the city-county line, this is where you should be. The venue is Pejus Lounge located at 1724 Woodlawn Drive. This lounge is a black owned West African and Caribbean restaurant so show your support for our businesses. There is catch, happy hour is not free. There is a $10 cover BUT free with this flyer (so print it now). Cover includes free rail drinks until 8pm and free dinner? (I would take some snacks just in case).
Later on in the evening at the same venue, TFP Entertainment joins the list of host from happy hour to present PREVE the after party. Ladies only pay $1 before 11pm (no, I am not missing a 0...it's really $1) as well as an all you can eat buffet beginning at 7. Sounds like a Fab! experience.

Friday night at Timothy Deans located at 1717 Eastern Ave. (you already knew that) is the place to be. It's the official birthday celebration for one of BmoreFab!'s favorite...AZIKIWE DEVEAUX. Ladies are 1/2 price all night, drinks specials all night, and my fav Dj Infame will be "orchestrating" the music. Attire for this elite crowd is summer black (Floyd with these clever names). Can Kian and Floyd pull off another great party? Stay tuned for a recap.

Diddy's Thoughts on HANCOCK
Diddy made some good points...but you know he is just straight up EXTRA!!!
Coolest "Brothers" of ALL Time

That's right! Ebony Magazine's new issue due to hit stores July 8th will attempt to countdown the 25 coolest "Brothers" of all time. Ok. If you wanna be real Ebony let's call our own people Brothas not Brothers...but I guess politics work that way sometimes. For the sake of this post let's use brothas. This is issue is truly a collectors' paradise. There will be 8 feature covers including Democratic Party Presidential Nominee Senator Barack Obama, Denzel Washington (mmm that's a fine man), and Jay-Z to name a few. Guess who didn't make the cover? Go on guess...Will Smith. Isn't he like the biggest movie star ever right now? I wonder why they passed him up? Hmmm...i dunno, maybe they featured him inside. I do know this, Ebony mag aims to outline what sets these "brothers" (brothas) apart from the rest. What makes them so successful? We can all take some tips from these brothas. This is a must read. For all of YOU who don't read magazines, pick this one up. I'm sure it'll be worth it! I mean with a cover like this, how can you walk pass and not pick it up? You know you can't.
Oh yes...I don't know about you but I have been anxiously waiting for the new Jazmin Sullivan, I Need You Bad video to be released. It's here so tell me what you think.

Recap: Soul Five Saturdays
So last night was the launch of Soul Five Saturdays at Timothy Dean's.
In a nutshell...great time!
At first glance I was thinking...hmm I'm gonna be partying in a row house but I took a deep breath and walked in. Upon walking in, I was greeted by Timothy Dean's extremely professional staff. I can't get over how attentive they were to the patrons (definitely rubbed me the RIGHT way). Remember how I kept hypin' it because it was only $5 for ladies? Well of course there was a catch...and that catch was $10 drinks! They were good and all but c'mon...$10 for an amaretto sour? I wasn't feelin those drink prices, BUT I was feelin' the grown, sexy, and FAB! crowd dressed in contemporary chic garments (thanks Floyd...its about time lol j/k we luv you!)
Okay so on to the decor...I was so impressed by the feng shui of it all. Very FAB! design. There is an attractive bar and lounge with plenty of seating on the first floor. To sit in the lounge area, you need a bottle on the table. So once I found that out I went upstairs to the dining area and the miniature dance floor. The area was so small that as you can see your girl was sweating bullets!
Nonetheless, DJ Infame kept the party going...spinning the latest club tunes, bmore club, and hits from the 90's. He sure is a jack of all trades because he served as the DJ and hypeman! LOL! I ain't hatin on DJ Inflame...do you boo.
OMG, how can I forget about the photographer. I forget his name but he was the life of the party for sure! Yet again, job well done Kian and Floyd!

Soul Five Saturdays
Here are five reasons that you cannot miss this event:
Top Shelf Bar
Soulful Lounge Area
Fine Dining (until 1AM)
Late Night Dancing
$5 Cover for Ladies!!!
So clearly there is no reason not to come out. Since the ladies are $5 all night, the fellas should have NO PROBLEM paying Timothy Dean's a visit tonight. Sounds like a Fab! time...Check it out! See you there...
Orioles Back in Business???
Haven't been to an Orioles baseball game lately? Don't worry neither have I until Wednesday (7.2.08) that is. Four tickets fell into my lap, so I said what the heck...its free. I was not disappointed at all. I've gotta be honest, you will never catch me watching a baseball game on the idiot box (that's television for those who didn't pick that up). Being in a stadium is a totally different atmosphere. First of all, there is not a bad seat in the house! There are people yelling at the top of their lungs selling peanuts, beer, and even those little Edy's Dibs. Not to mention those famous songs that everyone must join in and sing. For example. Take Me Out to the Ball Game (they didn't even play!) Not Fab! I was so looking forward to singing it! Oh well....
I was expecting to be let down by the Orioles but oh did they deliver!!! Shout out to my man Ramon Hernandez (no. 55) who was the MVP in my book. Every time he got up to bat they would play reggaeton LOL. At any rate, the Orioles pulled out a 5-2 win against the Kansas City Royals and won the three game series against the Royals. Kudos to the Orioles. Don't give up on em Bmore!!! Go to a game and take the family, the BFF, or even a boo! A day at the ball park will leave everyone happy!!! I sure was.
Recap | Baltimore Comedy Factory
Last night my BFF and I went out on a limb and visited the Baltimore Comedy Factory located at 36 Light Street right above Burke's Cafe (a well-known hang out spot for the locals). As I walked up to the stairs I began to question this decision. Inside was a little shady. I didn't expect a super fab! place but the seats were all cracked up with the foam busting from the seams (I was like what kind of establishment!) Looks can be deceiving people. No worries tho! I had a wonderful time. I was LOL the entire time.
I forget the name of the host but the first act was a sistah!!! Rae Diva, I gotta give her some love because she's a sistah but she could stand to work on her material. The next act was Alabama, he is from Alabama hence the name and moved to Baltimore a few years ago. He was absolutely hilarious!!!OMG! He reminds me of Bruce Bruce from ComicView (Check out the pic below). He claims first lesson he learned when he moved to Bmore was to stay away from all places that end in heights. He was right on point...Park, Liberty,O'donnell...ring a bell? Last but certainly not least was the featured comic Timmy Hall. Guess what? He is a Baltimore City Police Officer!!! That's right he's 5-0!!! Don't knock him tho, it was easy to see why he was the feature. His jokes mainly covered his experiences as a cop. However, he did not bore his audience with BCPD jokes, he spiced it up with relationships and of course...crackheads.
If you are looking for a comedy club in the city, I say hands down Baltimore Comedy Factory. For more information about upcoming events click here.

Tony Yayo & Lloyd Banks Stop Thru 92Q
Check out G-Unit as they stop thru 92Q to discuss The Game, Young Buck, and other G-Unit madness!
Fab Selects | 4th of July Rundown
Ok...I get it. There's a million places to be, see, and all that good stuff, but the question is...are all of these places worth your time? If you aren't sure, let the good people at TFE (aka me lol) help you find some hot spots over this long weekend:
1. 4th of July @ The Inner Harbor (E Pratt & Light St) - festivities begin at 3pm with performances and patriotic music. Fireworks begin at 9:30pm
2. Independence Day Block Party (32 Market Place) - A beach party in the middle of the city featuring fireworks at Babalu Grill, drink specials, DJ's, massages, and best body contest
3. Howard County's Independence Day Festival (10300 Little Patuxent Parkway) - music, food, and fireworks starting at 4:30pm. Free parking near the Merriweather Pavilion
4. 4th of July on the roof of the Maryland Science Center (601 Light St) - as corny as this sounds, from 7-11pm you can enjoy an open bar and picnic-style food for $50 (it may sound pricey, but I've seen people spend more to get saucy before...). Click here for more info
5. Towson's 4th of July Parade(Bosley Ave & Towsontown Blvd) - The parade starts on Friday @ 10:30am which will include military units, floats, and bands. Fireworks will proceed over the Loch Raven Academy
6. Fireworks at the Baltimore Museum of Industry (1415 Key Hwy) - take the family on a picnic while enjoying a tour of the museum from 6-10pm and fireworks. But be warned...they are chargin $40 per car, $35 for members, and $5 per person at the gate (this is for my wealthy folks that wanna throw some museum culture into their weekend.) But still, I saw some free fireworks in Harlem last week on 150th & Amsterdam (our hosts were later interrogated by the cops but it was still free)
For more activities in the area, check out the Baltimore Sun by clicking here.
Remember: you have an extra day to be fab so enjoy!

QS Entertainment aka D Hov present "The Blueprint" at Ray Lewis's own Full Moon (2400 Boston St.). They are guaranteeing the ball players, best lookin' chicks, blah blah blah (lol). But forreal, it's worth the hassle since our favorite "Hotboy" DJ Quicksilva will be on the 1's and 2's. So again, put one in the air for MissBmoreFab! :)

Recap | African American Heritage Festival aka AFRAM
Fabulously submitted by BmoreFab! Chick
The African American Heritage Festival aka AFRAM (it'll always be AFRAM, they need to give it up!!!) was a bit of a disappointment. Can you believe that there were no vendors?!? Ok, well I might by hypin' it but there were literally like 3 of them selling the same things (you know..cheap t-shirts, etc.) However, I gotta shout out to the dudes selling the African jewelry from New York for hooking me up!

(Fab Mom, Fab-fan Chels, BmoreFab! Chick)
On a better note, the food was on point..tell me where else can you get 3 pieces of fish, 4 chicken wings, and fries for $8! No where!
Ok now to the artists... Hands down FANTASIA held it down. I am not a huge fan but I gotta give it to her she put on a show. You know somebody put on a show when they kick their shoes off and go through three towels. Bmore's own, Mario, did his thing too but sorry Mario, Tasia got you beat boo.
(Maybelline workin' their magic...)
And to top it off... Maybelline New York represented with their The Great Beauty Tour. There was a fabulous makeup artist who gave great make-up tips. FAB! tip: Don't limit your blush to cheeks only. Try dusting just below the eyebrow area with a little brush. It picks your face right up!!! Hopefully next year there will be more to highlight but unfortunately the only thing poppin' this year was the lipgloss after the makeovers.
Hopefully AFRAM will spice it up for next year...
7.2 | Get Animated at the Maryland Zoo
This is for all my kiddies...well actually I guess there's no age limit on animation, so this is for everyone! Come to the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore this Wednesday (7.2.08) from 10am-4pm to get animated! Cartoon Network will be there for their Get Animated Tour 2008 so you might win some prizes...or get a chance to be a part of some fun activities. Sounds pretty cool to me, and the best part is that it is FREE with zoo admission. Enjoy!
